  • NAROS Hosts the Shenzhen - Los Angeles Emerging Industries Investment Reception in Hollywood

  • NAROS, with help from organizer PlusYoou (普创), held a successful investment reception event at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood on March 29, 2017.   The reception was designed to welcome a delegation from Shenzhen and allow them to discuss and showcase opportunities for bilateral investment between the two cities.  

     

    Presenters included Mr. Chris Rico, Director of Innovation for the LAEDC; Mr. Guo Ruda, Commercial Attache for the Chinese Consulate in Los Angeles; Mr. Lei Jia, Acting Director of Investment Promotion Division III of Invest Shenzhen; Mr. Zhao Liang, Director of Invest Luohu; Mr. Lian Runxiong, Founder of Pricehacker; and Mr. Zhang Dingjian, Founder of Hmazing. 

     

    Mr. Rico and Mr. Lei Jia introduced the innovative and entrepreneurial ecosystems of Los Angeles and Shenzhen, respectively, emphasizing the potential for current and future collaboration between the two cities.  Special emphasis was then placed on  new entertainment and creative opportunities available in the Luohu district during the event, with a presentation by Mr. Zhao Liang.  This included an introduction to the new 'Visual Creative Gallery' which Invest Luohu hopes will encourage further cooperation between their district in Shenzhen and the film industry in Hollywood.  In the final presentations of the reception, Mr. Lian Runxiong and Mr. Zhang Dingjian discussed their experiences founding startups with ties to both Shenzhen and Los Angeles.

     

    More than 120 guests attended the reception, representing industries such as virtual reality, artificial intelligence, film production, entertainment investment, and game design.

     

    During the rest of their visit to the Los Angeles area, the delegation from Shenzhen also had the opportunity to visit Paramount Pictures, Deluxe Entertainment, and Sony Pictures Studios, to learn from companies with decades of experience in entertainment production to enhance the development of the industry in Shenzhen.
