The Shenzhen Science, Industry, Trade, and Information Technology Commission sent a delegation to North America with the mission to promote the bilateral trade and investment between North America and Shenzhen, P.R. China. The five member delegation, including the Deputy Director General, began their mission in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and ended in Los Angeles, CA, USA.
Along the way, the delegation stopped in Seattle, WA to host a conference, titled "Shenzhen: China's City of Innovation and Entrepreneurship: A Galaxy of Incentives and Opportunities in the IT Industry", aimed at establishing synergies between Shenzhen based IT companies and Greater Seattle Area based IT companies. The North American Representative Office of Shenzhen, P.R. China, in cooperation with the Washington Technology Industry Association coordinated and planned the event. Ms. Ling Wang, the Deputy Director General for Shenzhen SITIC was the key note speaker for the conference.
The Seattle conference boasted public sector speakers from SITIC and The Research Institute of Tsinghua University in Shenzhen. Private sector presenters represented companies such as Microsoft, BYD, ZTE, VanceInfo, and Mindray Medical.
The event had time allotted for networking. With a turnout so large, registration for the event had to be closed days before the event in order to abide by the venue's fire code, it was a great opportunity to develop industry contacts and business leads.
NAROS staff Jeanne Li and Mitchell Lamberth were present.
